| The
First Star |
| By
the 1920s, the world knew Hollywood. The mere mention of the word
conjured up images of immense motion picture studios and stars.
Year after year, thousands poured into an area that had become as
famous as her people. Klieg lights pierces the darkness of obscurity
to fame, while the path to fortune was lined with California palm
tress. |

| What
is Stardust? |
| In
1958 the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce voted to give the stars a
permanent home on the Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. Joanne
Woodward received the first star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In 1960 another 1,540 stars were added. Today, the landmark stars
exceeds 2,300. |
